TROOP MEETINGS

Thursday nights will never be the same again...

[A game at our HQ]Whilst we go on adventurous activities, expeditions, camps, competitions and so on at weekends or during school holidays, the real backbone of our Troop (like any other) is our weekly meeting.

Troop B meets for two hours every Thursday. It is during these meetings that skills are learned ready for the activities lying ahead. Of course, weekly meetings aren't all about learning - we try to ensure a balanced programme including a lot of games, team-building excercises and so on. Above all, we like to have FUN!

Here's a brief look at the sort of things we have been known to do each week.
Carpet racing - has to be seen to be believed!
Superman
Cave rescue - recreation of an extremely challenging real-life situation, this also instills more thought towards safety when we go caving for real.
Trading post
Meeting local emergency services
Athletics & Silly Olympics - keeping fit with a distinctly Troop B slant
Canoeing
Fire Ballista Building - amazing in the dark.
Rescue Techniques
Map making
Scavenger Hunt
[at an indoor meeting]
Patrol Radio Pioneering
Fitness Competition
Wide Games - at least once a term we hold one of Troop B's legendary wide games, on a variety of themes - check out other adventures for more information.
Cooking - not forgetting our annual Pancake competition (the current trophy is held by Vultures)
Model Building
Quizzes
First Aid Course
Games - there's nothing quite like a good Troop B game!
Expedition Planning - they don't just happen on their own!
Video Production
Axes & Saws - not only is it part of the Awards scheme, knowing how to use an axe or a saw saves a lot of time when you come to use one on summer camp.
Swimming
Casualty Simulation
Sports Competitions on our local green
Patrol Meetings - more exciting than it sounds, each Patrol goes off to do what it wants for a week, as a patrol.
Adventure Course
Stoves - learning about (and using) loads of different types of stove, from the conventional trangia, Camping Gaz or Primus, to the less-well known Australian pit fire, jet-candle (fries as good as gas - honest!) and suspended pie cases
Rock Climbing - outdoors, or at the superb indoor climbing centre at Surrey University.
Le Mans (Troop B style) - making the most out of that old favourite Scalectrix
