SCOUTABOUT 2002

Fun in the sun

June 2002
Once again Troop B were out in force at Surrey's big event. Scoutabout happens every three years and allows thousands of scouts and guides from all over Surrey to experience a vast range of activities from JCB driving to bungee running, bleep tests to hot air ballooning.

The scouts spent the weekend doing as many things as they could, eating as much as they could, enjoying the sunshine and trying to chat up guides.

37 Troop B members spent the weekend with us at Ardingly and all thought it was one of the best camps they'd done, going home tired and happy.

Some of the activities they tried included JCB driving, rally karting, quad biking, motorbikes, abseiling, climbing, bungee running, bleep tests, astronomy, face painting, crafts, branding, gladiators, dead man's crawl, sports, shooting, archery, and many, many more.

[Bungee run] As one of the few camps where the leaders relent and lay on absolutely everything for the Scouts - we run the activities, put up the tents, cook the food and more! - this is obviously a great experience, and an opportunity for Scouts to get really involved in the activities whilst leaders take care of everything else. Not that us leaders didn't get involved of course - that just wouldn't be Troop B, would it ;-)

All we can say is - bring on Scoutabout 2005!
