April 2002

The
last weekend of April saw all types of weather come to North Wales, alongside
Toby, Arran, Jonny, Matt and Ed. The five had arrived to ascend some mountains
in order to raise funds
towards the World Jamboree
in Thailand, which both Toby and Arran will represent the UK at.
The weather, bringing wind, rain, hail and eventually snow, made things
difficult, but it did offer two windows giving just enough time to get
up Tryfan via the North Ridge (an excellent scramble) and a brisk blast
up Snowdon.
We stayed at Llangollen and Ogwen Cottage Youth Hostels and thanks
must go to Nicola, Toby's mum, for driving!
The event raised a substantial sum of money (well into four figures),
so well done to the scouts to the effort they put in.
