MICROLIGHTING
...as seen by two Troop B Patrol Leaders
Microlighting: May 2004

you have never been flying before then micro lighting is certainly a great
way to start. Apart from actually learning to fly the micro lights, which,
I must add is an amazing first experience, for me myself the views from
high in the sky were absolutely breathtaking. You would be astounded at
what every thing looks like from a few thousand metres up in the sky,
on a clear day cruising around in your small aeroplane. At the start of the day we were instructed on all the controls in the micro light. It did seem quite complicated and a lot to remember, but to my relief when I was about to take off my instructor was controlling the speed of the aeroplane and was giving me good assistance in the job of flying it. So, thankfully I was ok. We had to move the plane by using a joystick, which was very sensitive. With the slightest flick of your finger you could be spinning around in circles attempting acrobatics, which unfortunately we were not allowed to attempt!!!!!!! Overall the micro lighting was an experience that I won’ t forget in a hurry and like many other of my scout experiences it has earned a place deep within my memory. Amazing! Thanks to all the leaders that put together a great day and yet another great experience. Microlighting: May 2004 By Michael G On
Sunday 23rd May some of the Patrol Leaders from 1st Hersham, Troop B went
Microlighting at Popham Airfield. We all got a 20 minute flight in which we were able to fly or maybe even land the aircraft. We were accompanied by an experienced pilot who sat right next to you. I could recommend Microlighting to anyone, even if you are afraid of heights. Microlights are really easy to control as all there is, is a stick which can go backwards, forwards, left and right. The flight itself isn't all that bumpy, same with the landing. The view when you are up there is stunning especialy as it was a clear day when we were there. If you have never been Microlighting I suggest you go because you are really missing out on an amazing experience. Cheers for your reports guys.
