GILWELL ALTERNATIVE No room at Winter Camp - so we ran our own... January 2003 Unfortunately there was no room for us at the Gilwell Winter Camp. Fortunately we can pull a decent weekend out of the bag at no notice. And so it was that instead of heading for Gilwell Park on a freezing, but sunny, January weekend, we headed to Blacklands Farm in East Sussex. We laid on a weekend of activities for the scouts signed up and made the most of the best weekend of weather in ages. Climbing, shooting, abseiling, crate climbing, all terrain boarding, grass sledging, pot holing, archery to name but a few. Plus we went to McDonald's for breakfast and a few games of ten-pin bowling which always goes down well with the scouts. A cracking overnighter as it turned out - better than the original plan.
