EASTER CAMP 2005
A Scout's verdict
Easter Camp 2005 took place in Ilkley
& the Yorkshire Dales. Our report can be found here,
but read on below to find out what Stephen H. thought of the adventure...
We started the camp when we left the scout hut at about 8pm and after a long and tiring journey we arrived at Curly Hill camp site. Because of the journey we were allowed to sleep inside the hut for that night. After a fairly short sleep we got up (all very tired) and made our breakfasts and lunches. We the divided into halves and one half left to go caving and the other half stayed in the hut. After
over a very wet and exiting hour underground the groups swapped and
the second group went caving and the other back to the hut. When the
first group to go caving got back to the site they started setting up
their tents. When we had finished we left to go skiing which was very cold but also very fun. Later that day we had a very fancy dinner (spaghetti bolognaise) and after that had a bit of fun in the hut casino. Unfortunately some of us were not very good gamblers and lost £450. This was as well as being fun, taught us that the house always wins, which was shown to us by telling us that although three people had more than tripled their original starting money the casino still made £800 profit.
The next day we all got up early again and went on a hike but unfortunately
one group went on a very long detour which added over an hour onto their
hike. Later that day we all went quad biking and mountain biking which
I think everyone enjoyed. At about ten o’clock we all left and got into the mini busses and were dropped off ant had a long night wide game. On the final day we all were aloud to have a lie in which we were all very grateful for and we left later that day to go home. We all enjoyed the trip and we are very grateful that the leaders put so much time and effort into the camp. |
