Bigger and better

During 2004 Troop B built up to record membership levels, and delivered a programme to match. From self-defence courses to skiing in Scotland, from summer camp in Wales to a Christmas trip to Paris, we got it all! Read on to find out more.
[Motocross]CHRISTMAS PARTY & MOTOCROSS- December 2004
Christmas 2004 saw the now legendary Troop B Christmas Party take on the theme 'Superheroes and Supervillains'. This three-hour extravananza incorporated dozens of games from Russian Omlette to the finely-honed Splat the Jelly! Many Scouts then joined us the following day for an introduction to motocross at a local motorsports centre - how better to finish a year at Troop B?

From the Purbeck hills to west Dorset and parts of Devon, Troop B hit the hills in four groups with younger Scouts picking up essential skills whilst older Scouts were out on their own! See how they got on here.

130 people joined us for fun and activities in the sun at Walton Firs. Thanks to Dave Mac and his team at the site for helping to arrange the event, and for all the organising done by the parents who helped. The Peak District seemed to be the only sunny place in the UK over the bank holiday weekend. And we were there! Blue skies, hills, scrambling, gorge walking, night abseiling and climbing all featured as troop be skilled up its hillmen. Check out the report here.

We had a great time mountain biking on the Surrey Hills during our annual expedition. Muddy bombholes, bombing descents and stunning views. Read the report.



[Skiing]SKI SCHOOL - March 2004
We trained the troop up as skiiers, and made those who could already ski do it better, during a month of lessons at Sandown Ski Centre.

The PLs were also able to hone their skills in preparation for April's Advanced Camp in Scotland.

SUB-AQUA - March 2004
We went back to Crowborough for another introductory scuba session for those that missed it last time. Great fun and a good way to spend a cold friday night.

[Self defence]SELF-DEFENCE - February & March 2004
We learned to defend ourselves better during an 8 week course in Dynamic Self-Defence. We discovered the power of voice control, kicks, punches, locks, holds and more. We're dead hard now, so don't mess.
